What is Split Gate?

Splitgate (known during development under the working title Splitgate: Arena Warfare) is a free-to-play multiplayer first-person shooter video game developed and published by 1047 Games. It is set to be released on July 27, 2021 for Microsoft Windows on Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The game revolves around Halo-inspired sci-fi combat in battle arenas where players can create wormhole portals between two points on the map that have been compared to those of the Portal series, and fire weapons or travel through those portals.

Splitgate is everything I want in an online shooter. A balanced gameplay experience because attachments and other upgrades are not unlocked in leveling. A fair amount of obtainable content without spending any money.

But most of all a completely unique spin on CLASSIC online shooters – not battle royales. Your typical TDM and domination type gameplay.

While the game’s Steam number are not the greatest, I can still find games relatively quickly. This is likely due in part to cross-play with consoles where I assume the game has a much stronger player base.
